Way back in 2004 they started an arms race by sticking a big ugly black grille on a perfectly Bauhaus A6, and now I have to put up with seeing this vomitous monstrosity as I exit my local cafe.

Kinja'd!!!

Not the actual offending Alphard, I was too busy puking to take a photo.

Audi tried suing Rover over it’s use of a large grille on the Rover 75 4.6 V8.

They argued Rover were copying or something with it.

Rover counter argued they had been using the large grille longer.

1954 Rover P4 75 (my example).

Kinja'd!!!

MF ZT V8 (it’s MG sibling) exhaust for your time.

In fairness to Audi: they were right. They totally started that bumper -through-the-middle-of-the-grille thing. Another crime I hold them guilty of.

Blame China. Rapid emergence of wealth and gaudy taste is driving European car design currently . No wonder this monstrosity was unveiled in Shanghai.

No, the Alphard has always been profane.

I’d prefer the Rover anyway.

Me too. But then again we had a Rover 75 1.8 K Series Connoisseur.

I saw a 7 a few days ago and that grill somehow managed to be bigger in real life than in photos. I much prefer the 8 that is floating around near me.

That’s a photoshop. I know because it is laughable and no sane person would put that into production.

Dear God. I hope to find someday the Chinese are satirists of design. That would explain a lot. Because directionless copycats is getting overused.

I’ve been on a post Leyland Rover binge recently. The 800 and 75 look so good.

We had a 1994 Rover 820Si, saloon in metallic BRG, that wafted around the roads, it had power if you jammed your foot to the floor, but it just felt wrong in a car like that as the seats were like big comfy arm chairs. So you just went places leisurely.

And a 2003 Rover 75, 1.8 Connoisseur in dark metallic blue . It was lovely, but just had no legroom, front or rear.
